There are approximately 140 million Muslims in India and 4.2 millions of them live in Tamil Nadu. Generally, the Muslims in India are very far behind today’s standard of living be it in the aspect of education, economy, health et cetera.
Out of 140 millions Muslims, only 1.7% of them managed to complete their tertiary education. As a minority, they are faced by myriads of challenges and have constantly being oppressed by the majority. Corruption and injustice towards the minority make the situation even more worse than it already is as no one is there to defend their rights.
This year, like any other year, Al-I’tisam will continue and will try to bring happiness and joy to the people of Tamil Nadu especially in the holy month of Ramadhan. This is in line with the hadith that says “The fasting person has two occasions for joy, one when he breaks his fast because of his breaking it and the other when he meets his Lord because of the reward for his fast.”
