(Rohingya) Disaster Fund (Part II)
Soup Kitchen, Shelters, Public Bathroom & Toilet Project – Second phase
We were overwhelmed with all the support that we received from public, individual, ngos, corporate companies and abroad donors. Thus, we are grateful to launch Save Rohingya part II to extend the hope of these generous group of people to help the Rohingyas in Bangladesh. Of course we will stick with the same main objectives however with some improvements;
- SOUP KITCHEN
Al-I’tisam kitchen feedings 1000 refugees with 4 cooked dishes per day.
a) white rice, chicken curry, vege, dhall gravy
b) white rice, egg curry, vege, dhall gravy
c) white rice , meat curry, vege, dhall gravy
d) white rice, fish curry, vege, dhall gravy
The above rotation menus will take place daily.
Al-I’tisam Soup Kitchen has been improved hygienically in order to comply with W.A.S.H standardization to feed 1000 refugees per day.
Our volunteers who work in the kitchen are shariah compliance with proper food handling regulations and meet the standard of kitchen procedures. They will start cooking as early as 7 am in the morning till Zohor prayer subsequently volunteers start packing as food distributions will be conducted sharp at 3 pm. Our volunteers will distribute those packed meals appropriately using coupon system so every family will go on rotation basis and receive food everyday.
Feeding thousand people everyday might sounds good but compared to the actual volume of the refugees, it’s only a little help. Al-I’tisam Kitchen is a tiny project which capable to serve food only once throughout a single day. Currently kitchen needs more fund to keep it operating. We hope the kitchen lasts for at least 3-6 months. Please donate and keep the fund coming in.
We are building Soup Kitchen II in Nayapara Refugee Camp 2, Bangladesh
Al-I’tisam has been working in the area of Cox’s Bazar since 2015. Now we have 5 teams to prepare requirements and to carry out instructions and meet the objectives of the project. According to UNHCR Statistic , as of Oct 17, 2017 there are about 600000 Rohingya refugees in makeshift camp in Cox’s Bazar. To cater the volume of newly arrived refugees, we are in construction to build our 2nd kitchen in Nayapara Refugee Camp. The kitchen will also feeding 1000 newly arrived refugees.
- TEMPORARY SHELTER
We built 60 shelters made of bamboo and hard plastic sheets in Musoni Refugee Camp near Teknaf in September. Each unit of that temporary bamboo tent size is 15 x 10 ft and just nice for a family of 6. Currently, we are improving the design of the shelters to facilitate more convenience living conditions. The improved shelters will have approximately 6 ft of rooftop, cement flooring and a bigger space to accommodate up to 8 members of a family. Next constructions will be held at new makeshift area called Tenkhali Camp. We will focus to build temporary shelters there due to the volume of newly arrived refugees who are in desperate need increases in no time. Those new arrivals are seeking space to re-settle there vehemently. We will focus at Tenkhali until more funds can be raised before we consider another locations or refugee camp.
Also, more than 120 improved shelters with cement flooring and 6ft roof height have been in construction since early last month. Those shelters take up some strategic space in Kutupalong for a better environment and living condition. Funds come from various people around the world and donor like you, therefore we would like to congratulate to all of our donor, congratulation and thank you. This project of Al-I’tisam Village in Kutupalong is nothing without your efforts. Moreover, the project not only focus on building shelters but also will develop basic amenities such as school (madrasah), mosque, local shop, public bathroom and toilet to accommodate the refugees in Kutupalong.
- PUBLIC TOILET & BATHROOM
One of our top priorities is to ensure cleanliness and hygienic environment in Rohingya’s shelter and surroundings. As of to date, we have built 20 toilets and bathroom in order to provide the least basic amenities to cater their daily life and prevention to avoid cholera and serious epidermic diseases. Those who keen enough to donate for this cause, please be informed, we also accept non-shariah compliance income to build toilet and bathroom in the camp.
Keep supporting for SAVE ROHINGYA part III, more to come! One of them; to set up a long-term plan to boost up the refugees economy i.e Agricultural Project,
We’ll supply seed and fertilizer for each families in Kutupalong Village. Also, we are planning for raising livestock and so on.
