Their issues are our issues. Play your part in fighting this crime against humanity. Being dubbed as “the world’s most persecuted minorities”, the Rohingyas are right now in the midst of a serious conflict with the Myanmar Government. They seek refuge in other countries but do they have the basic necessities to start a new life? Most probably no.
We are raising fund to provide them with the essentials, do you want to help? The injustice that has befallen the Rohingyas is not a new issue. It has been going on for years. Being evicted from their own homeland, being killed, being burnt alive, being raped and being tortured. Cornered, they have no choice but to flee to the neighboring countries.
In order to move fast and to avoid detection, they have to travel with minimum to little belonging. Some of them made it across the border to Bangladesh, but some were captured and may not live to see another day. Those who reached Bangladesh have nothing; no clothes, not even food, to start a new life. Therefore, we took the initiative to devise a plan to help them kick-start their new life by giving them an Emergency Aid consisting of food, clothes and kitchen utensils.
We have succeeded in exceeding our target for the Save Rohingya fund all thanks to the big hearted donors. We also have been very fortunate to have found two partners that have contributed the majority of our funds. Amidst all that is happening there, our staffs managed to return back safely from the 3 series Save Rohingya missions dating from early December to early February.
During the planning phase of this mission, we decided to give out an Emergency Aid Package to each of the family who was affected by the crisis. Each package costs USD100 and is consisted of many basic necessities such as clothes, rice, dhal, cooking oil, cooking utensils, plates et cetera. However during our third mission, the content of the Emergency Aid Package was adjusted to fit the need of the people.
11-15 December 2016
Our first mission takes place in Bangladesh. We visited refugees’ camp such as the Rongakali Camp in Teknaf and Nakhamsuri Camp in Cox’s Bazaar. During the few days here, our staff oversaw the process of buying the items for the Emergency Aid Package and also supervises the process of distributing them. Besides distributing the aid, we also took the opportunity to survey a suitable place for the construction of our second madrasah for Rohingya people.
2-6 January 2017
In this mission, we were joined by our partner NGO from Netherland, Salamah wal Adalah. The main objective of this mission was to continue supervising the distribution of the Emergency Aid Package so that all of them are well distributed. Together with the chairman of Salamah wal Adalah, we took this opportunity to interview some of the refugees there and listen to their brave story.
9-15 February 2017
Unlike the first 2 missions, this last mission was carried out in the Arakan state, Burma itself. We managed to go to the muslim settlement in Arakan called Aung Min Ga Lar muslim quarters located in Sittwe. We continued to distribute the Emergency Aid Package in this mission too however the content of it differs to fit the needs of the people there. The people there were asking for onions, oil, dried chilli, multipurpose soap and so on instead. Besides that, we also had a meeting with the head of village to discuss the project of buying a land to expand the existing madrasah for the Rohingya children.
