Waqf Land – Rohingya School
Aung Min Ga Lar is a muslim quarter located in the district of Sittwe, Arakan. Throughout the years, there is an increasing number of children attending the one and only school for the communities in the quarter. Year to date, the school can no longer capacitate the number of students. The only solution to this problem is to have a bigger school.
The government of Burma has offered to pay half of the price of the land behind the school for the school expansion project. The school has to come up with the other half, but due to the crisis faced by the Rohingya people, they are not able to do so. Therefore, we decide to make this waqf project to support the Rohingya community to purchase the land so that the school expansion project can be carried out.
Location : Aung Min Ga Lar Muslim Quarters, Sittwe
Land area to purchase : 7,150 s.f (rounded up to 6,000 s.f for waqf purposes)
Purpose of waqf land : To build additional 8 classrooms block for Aung Min Ga Lar Primary school to house more students to study here. The current 2 blocks of 2 storey buildings (16 classrooms) is insufficient to cater all the school-going children in the village.
